Cell Motility In Flow

Tran Duc Quang, David Gonzalez-Rodriguez, Marcos

Metastasis is known to be the main cause of death in cancer, which is one of the most dangerous and pervasive diseases nowadays. Interstitial flow has been shown to be the stimulus for cell migration under the influence of the high interstitial fluid pressure inside the cancer tumor. However, the detailed mechanism on how flow affects cancer spreading is not well understood. Developing theoretical models and conducting experimental observations in simplified in-vitro systems would contribute to our understanding of the physical outcome of such interactions . The outcome of this study may provide deeper insights on how cancer spreading in the body can be impeded.
